Volunteers from the Hashd al-Shaabi inspect a dead Islamic State soldier after the Iraqi forces recaptured the city of Tikrit from ISIS control. During the battle for Tikrit, Shiite militias, who took part of liberating the city alongside the Iraqi Security Forces, were often accused of human rights abuses, such as lynching captured ISIS fighters, and of looting and arson as well. The militias would often deny any wrongdoing. The fighter was said to have been from Tajikistan, having a passport from the country on him. Tikrit, Iraq. 2015.
